Cardi B’s 2021 Chart-Topping “Up” Single Goes 2x Platinum

In February, Cardi B delivered her first solo single since 2019’s “Press.” This time, it was “Up,” and it saw massive success. It debuted at number two in the US on the Billboard 200 chart, and became the highest-charting solo song by a female rapper since Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing)” in 1998. A month later, Up, hit the top spot on the chart.

Up soon hit the platinum mark and now, it has reached another plaque. According to Chart Data, it is now 2x platinum in the US. This is after selling 2 million units. Up is still a huge radio hit, and definitely remains in heavy rotation at clubs as well.

With the release of Up in February, many believe that Cardi’s sophomore album will also arrive sometime this year as well. In an interview with Jimmy Fallon three months ago, she said that she needed to finish a few more songs and videos, before the album is officially completed. As of now, there is still no release date or title for this project.
