Cardi B’s “WAP” Single Featuring Megan Thee Stallion Officially Reaches No. 1 Spot on Billboard Hot 100 Chart; Becomes Cardi’s Fourth No. 1

Over a week ago, Cardi B released her highly anticipated “WAP” single featuring Megan Thee Stallion. The record was filled with sexual content that fans loved and the music video impressed them as well. The visuals included cameos from Kylie Jenner, Normani, Mulatto, and more.

WAP was on pace to become the No. 1 song in the country and now, that is official, according to Chart Data. It also becomes the first female rap collaboration in history to debut at No. 1 on the Hot 100. WAP also accumulated 93 million total streams, which is the most ever for a song in its first week. WAP also becomes Cardi’s fourth No. 1 single and Megan Thee Stallion’s second No. 1 single. WAP continues to make history as it is part of four all-female collaborations that reached No. 1 on the Hot 100 in 2020, which is the most in any year. The other songs are “Say So” remix by Doja Cat featuring Nicki Minaj, “Savage” remix by Megan Thee Stallion and Beyoncé, and “Rain On Me” by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande.

WAP was also already certified gold by the RIAA over the weekend. This is after it reached 500,000 units in sales. With all of WAP’s immediate success, fans now look forward to when Cardi will finally release her sophomore album.
