Carlee Russell charged with misdemeanor false reporting to law enforcement authorities and falsely reporting an incident
Carlee Russell charged after lying about kidnapping claims
Earlier this month, 25-year-old Alabama woman Carlee Russell created one of the biggest social media trending topics of 2023. She was supposedly initially kidnapped near a Hoover, AL highway, as she claimed to 911, that she saw toddler walking on the side of it. As a result, she was allegedly kidnapped, after approaching the child.
However, Russell went on to be found, two days later. Therefore, her boyfriend even claimed that she had to “fight for her life,” over the past two days.” However, evidence led to believe that Russell fabricated the kidnapping claim, as she searched terms for going missing, and she even traveled 600 yards, while on the phone with 911. Her attorney even went on to confirm that the situation was fabricated, and her boyfriend has since split with her.
As a result, Russell is now facing charges for lying in this situation. According to TMZ, she is being hit with two misdemeanors, which are false reporting to law enforcement authorities and falsely reporting of an incident. Both charge carries a year in jail. Russell posted $2,000 bond, on Friday morning.
