While Philadelphia never quite had its shine the way such cities as New York City or Atlanta have, the City of Brotherly Love has produced quite a few stars. During its peak, Philadelphia served as the breeding ground for battle rapper, Cassidy. The young rapper found himself under the wing of Swizz Beatz and a star by 2003.

In 2004, Cassidy released his debut album, Split Personality, and he immediately became one of the biggest stars of the year. However, Cassidy would be overshadowed by Kanye West, who debuted the same year. But, for a brief period of time, Cassidy was one of the biggest names, releasing his second album in 2005.

Cassidy would suffer from a near-fatal car accident, which almost ended his career, but he returned in 2007. But, over the past five years, Cassidy has been primarily on the mixtape level, where he originated. Recently, Cassidy got into a minor tiff with fellow Philadelphia rapper, Meek Mill, which he discussed, along with his new mixtape with Prestige Film Works.
