Charlamagne Tha God signs five year contract extension with iHeart Radio to remain “The Breakfast Club” co-host, but also given expanded role within the company as an executive
Ten years ago, “The Breakfast Club” premiered, and the show was hosted by a group of misfits. The best-known host was DJ Envy, who was a Hot 97 castaway, over at Power 105.1. He followed DJ Clue over to “the other station.”
Angela Yee was best-known for doing explicit Sirius XM interviews, some of which were controversial. Meanwhile, Charlamagne Tha God had the Jay-Z drama. But, the trio began a run, which ended with them propelling Power 105 to overtake Hot 97 as the top hip hop station.
Charlamagne Tha God is “The Breakfast Club’s” breakout star and has been for some time. Solo, he has had deals with MTV, among other networks, for talk shows, and is rising in the political world. Yesterday, following speculation that he may depart “The Breakfast Club,” Charlamagne signed a five year extension with iHeart Radio, which will also include an executive position within the company.
