Fans were able to get excited about NBA basketball in Charlotte for the first time in almost twenty years, this season. The Hornets organization got behind Kemba Walker as their leader and they surprised many. But, their core is facing free agency, all except Walker.
With the core of Marvin Williams, Nic Batum, and Jeremy Lin, there is promise in the Charlotte Hornets. Many felt they needed one more piece to be complete. Head coach, Steve Clifford, said Charlotte needed a rim protector and sang Hassan Whiteside’s praises after game seven.
Had it not been for Hassan Whiteside, the Charlotte Hornets may very well be playing the Toronto Raptors, tonight. While Al Jefferson is beloved for his plethora of post moves, he brings nothing to the defensive side of the table. This is fueling rumors that the Gastonia native, Whiteside, may be picked up by the Hornets in free agency.
