Chloe X Halle sold 2,000 copies in their first week, with #TheKidsAreAlright, despite all their exposure

The whole Jay-Z machine has been built on ownership. When he got with Beyonce, Jay-Z jumped into the relationship to continue working on what she was building. Even during the Destiny’s Child era, the #BeyHive was in full effect.

With Beyonce’s sheer popularity, especially on the mainstream, and the business savvy of Jay-Z, they couldn’t lose. Literally, Jay-Z asked on their first collaboration, “Bonnie and Clyde,” “how they gon’ stop us.” All these years later, they are a billionaire couple.

Beyonce has her Parkwood label and Chloe X Halle are the artists headlining that roster. Along with music, they are on “grown-ish,” one of the most-popular new shows on television. But, despite being a part of the machine, their album, The Kids Are Alright, only moved 2,000 copies in its first week.
