This afternoon, the hip hop world was shaken when Chris Lighty was revealed to be dead. After more news about the mogul broke, it was revealed Chris Lighty shot himself. The popular mogul was found dead in his apartment in The Bronx. In the hours since the death of Chris Lighty, the hip hop world has mourned his loss.
Chris Lighty was a well-respected member of the hip hop community. The head of Violator Management, Chris Lighty guided the careers of Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J, Ja Rule, Missy Elliott, and 50 Cent, along with many others. Upon taking 50 Cent under his wing, Chris Lighty found himself embroiled in the Murder Inc. feud, siding with G-Unit.
Over the past few years, Chris Lighty has remained a background player in hip hop. Much like other figures in the game, Chris Lighty had become active on Twitter. His last post on Twitter came two days ago. Actually a re-tweet from @ImYourWhispers, Lighty posted “Life is about perspective. It’s not what you see, but how you see it. What you see is what you get.”
