Chrisette Michele pens open letter explaining why she’s performing at Trump’s inauguration, but Black Twitter rejects her and Spike Lee says he isn’t using her music for his new Netflix series

Earlier this week, Chrisette Michele revealed she would indeed be performing at Donald Trump’s inauguration. Rising to fame behind big hits with Jay Z, Nas, and Rick Ross, Chrisette Michele is a big name. At a time when Neo Soul isn’t what it used to be, she is holding it down.

Chrisette Michele caused a lot of controversy when her news was revealed. Many fans have written her off as a “sell out” and Questlove even offered to pay her to not perform. But, that seems to not be an option for her.

This morning, Chrisette Michele shared an open letter that explains why she is performing at the inauguration. Understanding that everything about Donald Trump is controversial, Chrisette Michele said that someone needs to be there to represent for the minorities. In response, the minorities say they don’t want her and Spike Lee revealed he won’t use her music.
