Critics said Coming 2 America went heavy on the nostalgia and they were right. Some of those throwaway scenes, with the original cast members were the best ones. Now-King Akeem (Eddie Murphy) has new duties to take on, as he’s officially the leader.
However, when life caught up to the newly-minted king, he went back to where life made sense. Those who saw the movie already caught the scene. But, Akeem returned to where it all made sense, McDowell’s, where he and the man, Cleo McDowell (John Amos) spoke on life’s struggles.
Cleo McDowell (John Amos) ended up having one of the best moments of the movie. As he explained to King Akeem (Eddie Murphy) about life, he discussed his struggles with McDonald’s coming at McDowell’s with cease-and-desist letters, getting upset over McDowell’s McFlurby being too similar to the McFlurry. As he explained the differences, Cleo won Twitter, as fans joked about how different the fictional McDowell’s is to McDonald’s.
