Cleveland-area shooting leaves 25 injured, including two fatalities

A tragic incident took place early Saturday morning, near Cleveland. There was a mass shooting in Akron, Ohio, left 25 people injured. Also, including two fatalities. The shooting occurred shortly after midnight near Kelly and 8th Avenues. The Akron Police Department responded to multiple 911 calls reporting the violence.

Authorities found two men, ages 26 and 27, with gunshot wounds in a stolen vehicle. Despite efforts to provide aid, the 27-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the 26-year-old victim later died at the hospital. Additionally, 23 others were injured by gunfire, including a 27-year-old man who also succumbed to his injuries.

The Akron Mayor, Shammas Malik, and Police Chief Brian Harding released a joint statement expressing their sorrow over the senseless violence and urging the community to come forward with any information. “With more than two dozen victims, the pain and trauma reverberates across all of Akron today as we search for answers,” they said. “We will bring those responsible to justice, and we need the help of our community to do that. This can be done anonymously.”

Officers found dozens of bullet casings at the scene and recovered one firearm, but no suspects have been apprehended. The police are continuing their investigation and have emphasized the importance of community cooperation to prevent further violence and retaliation.
