Coachella drops all COVID-19 mandates, for 2022 festival

Coachella is finally making its long-awaited return, after a three-year hiatus. This is due to the COVID-19 pandemic affecting pans for the festival to be held in 2020 and 2021.

Coachella revealed its 2022 lineups last month, and it’s definitely star-studded, as usual. Among the headliners, include Billie Eilish, Kanye West, and Harry Styles. Among other stars on the lineup, are Lil Baby, Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion. Daniel Caesar, Big Sean, Baby Keem, City Girls, 21 Savage, and more.

Last fall, Coachella also revealed that no vaccination requirements would be needed, for entry into Coachella. Now, they are dropping all other COVID-19-related mandates as well, such as masking and negative tests, according to Variety. This also applies for the Stagecoach Festival, which is also ran by Goldenvoice, and is a country-dominated genre concert.

“In accordance with local guidelines, there will be no vaccination, testing or masking requirements at Coachella 2022,” as stated on Coachella’s safety page. “However, the event shall be presented in accordance with applicable public health conditions as of the date of the event and which may change at any time as determined by federal, state or local government agencies or instrumentalities, artists or the promoter; such requirements may include, without limitation, changes to capacity, attendance procedures and entry requirements, such as proof of vaccination and/or negative COVID-19 test, and other protective measures such as requiring attendees to wear face coverings.”

The California Department of Public Health also revealed that proof of vaccination will no longer be required for large outdoor events, starting on February 16.
