Coi Leray reveals that she’s no longer signed to Republic Records

Coi Leray has been putting in plenty of work, over the last several weeks. These have included performing at Coachella in the last two weekends, as well as announcing her upcoming “Can’t Come Back” single. This record is set to be released on Friday.

Meanwhile, Coi Leray has also confirmed that she is no longer signed to Republic Records. As of now, she is only under Island Records. Coi took to Instagram Live to explain that they didn’t want to put financial backing into her Blue Moon” EP, which was released last August. Two months before Blue Moon, Coi released her sophomore album, “COI.” That project contained 16 tracks, including her smash hit single, “Players.” That single peaked at number nine in the US, on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Furthermore, Coi Leray explained how Republic Records wanted her to go in a pop direction. She claimed that the major label wanted her to create records similar to that of Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande.

“I’m not on Republic Records no more. I’m on Island. When I dropped Blue Moon, Republic, they wanted pop s*it. They wanted some Taylor Swift/Ariana Grande s###, which I can do, but I still like to work on my own pace and my own time.”
