A few weeks ago, Coi Leray’s 2021 XXL Freshman Freestyle was released, and it’s safe to say that a lot of social media wasn’t feeling it. Nonetheless, Coi has remained confident in her ability as a rapper, and still has high praise for herself.
In a new interview with Complex, Coi showed that confidence again. The New Jersey artist felt that she did her thing, and did well the way Lakeyah did.
“Wait ’til they drop behind the scenes, I was lit,” Coi said. “I was saucy, but I knew at the end of the day, I’mma have fun.” hey put me up there with Lakeyah, she’s a f*ckin’ straight freestyle beast, you know? DDG, pen game crazy. Morray, fire. So, I already knew what I was walking into. Somebody had to be the best and somebody had to be the worst. I just feel like, if I’m not gonna be the best freestyle, I mean, I’m just gonna have fun with my sh*t, do whatever makes me happy.”
Then, Coi made the bold claim about nobody being able to see her in the studio, when it comes to delivering fire bars.
“But, if you put me in the booth with anybody on that XXL, I guarantee nobody seeing me in the f*ckin’ studio, and that’s on me,” Leray added. “Fa sho.”
A lot of people don’t agree with Coi Leray here either, but she is still trending heavily, regardless. This year, she’s been one of the biggest breakout stars, as she’s dropped hits such as the 2x platinum certified “No More Parties” remix featuring Lil Durk, “Big Purr,” featuring Pooh Shiesty, “Bout Me,” and “At The Top” featuring Kodak Black and Mustard.
