Colin Kaepernick’s rep denies report of investing in Ice Cube’s BIG3 league
On Wednesday, NBA insider Shams Charania reported that Colin Kaepernick is investing into Ice Cube’s BIG3 basketball league. This was reportedly due to the BIG3 allegedly being on the verge of shutting down. The league began play back in the summer of 2017.
According to a representative for Kaepernick to TMZ Sports now though, this report is false. In an interview with Basketball News, last month, Ice Cube said that the NBA hasn’t been the “nicest,” to the BIG3.
“The NBA hasn’t been the nicest to the BIG3. Of course, publicly, they say all the right words. But we know privately, there’s things done behind the scenes [with] sponsors, broadcasters, blah blah blah… It did tarnish my fandom a bit.”
Kaepernick is also unfortunately still not on an NFL roster. He recently had a workout for the Las Vegas Raiders, after owner Mark Davis said they’d welcome him. Kaepernick has been out of the NFL since 2017, as he’s being blackballed. Kaepernick was kneeling during the national anthem before games in 2016, to protest racism and police brutality in America.
