Colorado man gets shot in the neck, but his necklace stops bullet
A Colorado man had a miraculous escape when a bullet fired at him during an argument was stopped by his metal chain necklace. This is according to authorities. The incident occurred on May 29 in Commerce City, a suburb north of Denver.
The Commerce City Police Department shared the story in a Facebook post. As a result, detailing how a .22 caliber bullet was fired at the man but was halted by his 10-millimeter silver chain necklace. The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, suffered only a puncture wound.
The suspected shooter, whose identity also remains undisclosed, has been arrested and charged with attempted homicide. According to KDVR-TV, police speculated that the necklace might not have been pure silver. After all, silver is a soft metal and unlikely to withstand a bullet’s impact.
“We’d say he really dodged a bullet — but in reality, he LODGED a bullet,” the police department humorously wrote on Facebook. They also suggested reconsidering the value of knockoff items, given this incredible outcome.
The accused shooter is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, according to The Associated Press.
