During this current era of hip hop, the phrase “using your platform” has become popular. All that means is that anyone in hip hop, who has an audience, use it to spread the right message. While the phrase is new, the action is something Common has done since day one.
Early in his career, Common nearly paid a dear price for spreading a positive message. His song, “I Used To Love H.E.R.,” sparked a beef with Ice Cube that went on for years. Thankfully, both peacefully ended things, and are now good friends.
Common was recently in New York City and he visited Angie Martinez at Power 105.1. The two talked about his past with Angela Rye, as he finally admitted the two had a relationship. Speaking of his past, Common also spoke on performing with Erykah Badu.
