This evening, hip hop has shown how truly far it has come. There was a time when West Coast hip hop from Los Angeles was deemed the end of the world by the media. Much of the music came from Death Row and everyone in the political and media world was against it.
Snoop Dogg, easily, became the face of that movement, which is funny within itself, now. But, back then Snoop Dogg was considered a dangerous figure in rap. Now, Snoop Dogg is go-to comic relief for everyone on social media.
He is now trending on Twitter without even trying to for lyrics that are nearly 25 years old. Chris Fowler, of ESPN, quoted his and Dr. Dre’s “Nuthin’ But A G Thang” single with the “Compton and Long Beach together” line he used to describe the Rose Bowl. The fans are having a field day with this one.
