The first episode of “Empire” saw everyone adjusting to the changes from the season finale. Among the changes was Cookie (Taraji P. Henson), teaming with Andre and Hakeem (Trai Byers and Bryshere “Yazz” Gray). She did this, going against Jamal (Jussie Smollett).
Cookie was always close to Jamal, but he got close to Lucious (Terrence Howard). Angry, Cookie, teamed with the aforementioned Andre, Hakeem, and Anika (Grace Gealey) to take over Empire. But, their takeover failed when Mimi (Marisa Tomei) switched sides.
After being spurned by Jamal at the end of last week’s episode, Cooke said she should start her own label. Now, she has the support of her sons and “Boo Boo Kitty,” Anika, running it out of Ghetto Ass Studios, Jamal’s recording place in season one. She is receiving all kinds of props on Twitter for stepping up and building her own “Empire.”
