To those who try to argue that white privilege doesn’t exist, try being stopped by the police, while black. What happened to Cordell Hackett should never happen. Even still, Cordell Hackett’s situation was mild, compared to others.

But, when a person of color is pulled over by the police, in the back of their minds, they’re wondering if they will live or die. Despite what some are saying, the police are killing people of color. Most of the time, they’re getting away with it, too.

Cordell Hackett never feared for his life, but when he was pulled over by a Mississippi state trooper, his life was threatened. Hackett says he was stopped by trooper, Will Boyd, who he said told him to kill himself, next time. Not only that, after Boyd wrote the ticket, he told Hackett “I hate your kind.”
