Countess Vaughn and Shar Jackson to star in Tubi Moesha spinoff
Countess Vaughn was quietly the biggest star on the UPN network. In 2013, she spoke with Hip-HopVibe.com about her career. During the interview, Vaughn had nothing but good things to say about her time on “Moesha” and “The Parkers.” Clearly, she enjoyed playing Kim Parker. According to reports, she is reprising the role for the first time in nearly twenty years. Almost exactly nineteen years ago, “The Parkers” aired its final episode. Now, a new series has been announced, “Kim and Niecy.” This show will star Vaughn and Shar Jackson, as ‘Niecy.’ It is a continuation of “Moesha” and “The Parkers.”
Countess Vaughn somewhat stole the show on “Moesha.” As a result, after the fourth season, Vaughn got her own series. With Mo’Nique playing her mother, Countess Vaughn starred in “The Parkers,” which was a spin off series of “Moesha.” In turn, Mo’Nique ended up stealing that show. Once “The Parkers” ended, there were no further series added in that franchise. However, the late Lamont Bentley reprised his role as ‘Hakeem,” a year after “Moesha” ended, on “The Parkers.”
Countess Vaughn and Shar Jackson have both had interesting career arcs since “Moesha” and “The Parkers” ended. In the mid-2000s, Jackson returned to the spotlight doing reality TV on VH1. However, Countess Vaughn almost completely disappeared from the spotlight. In 2014, she returned to the forefront when she began appearing on TV One’s reality shows. Since they ended, Vaughn has kept out of the public eye. However, she and Jackson will be starring in Tubi’s “Kim and Niecy.” Reports say Dorien Wilson and Ken Lawson, of “The Parkers” will guest star.
