Couple finds alligator attack victim on Florida jogging path
A Florida couple’s date night had a terrifying twist. They stumbled upon a gruesome scene involving an alligator attack while driving home early Saturday morning. Ismael Rainey, 25, and his partner Kendall Hardester were heading back from a romantic evening when they spotted a man lying motionless on a jogging path near Lake Monroe in Sanford.
“It was around 1:30 am, and we saw a guy covered in blood on the side of the path,” Hardester recounted. “He was missing his arm, and you could see the bone and flesh.”
The injured man, later identified as Dustin Crousser, 31, had ventured into the alligator-infested waters for a late-night swim. Hardester, driven by her instincts, quickly took action. “I grabbed a small towel he had and used it to apply pressure to his arm until paramedics arrived,” she said.
Passers-by also stopped to assist and called 911 while Hardester provided first aid. Crousser, in critical but stable condition, was transported to HCA Lake Monroe Hospital. Sadly, the extent of his injuries required amputation of his arm from the elbow down.
Reflecting on the incident, Rainey admitted, “It’s not something you expect on a typical Saturday night.” Despite the shock, Hardester stated she would not hesitate to help again in a similar situation, emphasizing the importance of acting swiftly in emergencies.
This incident highlights the lurking dangers in Florida’s waters and the bravery of those who step up to help in dire circumstances.
