While the spotlight belongs to Drake and Nicki Minaj, Curren$y was the first artist signed to Young Money, the Cash Money subsidiary owned and operated by Lil Wayne. With Lil Wayne still establishing himself, Young Money was not very prominent. Curren$y, a budding star in his own right, he left Young Money.

Unlike other members to leave the camp eventually known as YMCMB, Curren$y has remained on good terms with Young Money. Following a potential deal with Damon Dash, Curren$y eventually settled with Warner Bros. Records. After releasing several mixtapes, he is preparing to release his new album.

The Source caught up with Curren$y and he discussed his new music. With a new album on the way, Curren$y revealed he would be working with Pharrell and Warner Bros. label-mate, Wale, among others.
