From its inception, “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” have always had plenty of controversy. This season is different from others, as NeNe left the show before the season started. The past few years saw NeNe Leakes change friends and Cynthia Bailey slowly become an enemy.

Dating back to 2012, Cynthia Bailey was building a friendship with Kenya Moore. At one point, Kenya Moore appeared to be becoming friends with NeNe, but to no avail. In the end, Cynthia and Kenya became their only allies.

Offscreen, Cynthia Bailey and NeNe Leakes became friends again, thus the reason she returned to the show for a brief arc. Here, Cynthia became friends with Kim Fields and chose her to produce the commercial, “mercial,” over Kenya Moore after downplaying their friendship. This week, all of the drama became something real when the commercial debuted.
