DaBaby’s lawyers believe that new footage of 2018 NC Walmart fight, which led to Jaylin Craig being shot and killed by DaBaby, proves DaBaby’s self-defense claim
DaBaby’s lawyers say Walmart shooting footage backs self-defense claim
Last weekend, new footage was leaked by Rolling Stone, where it displays DaBaby as being the aggressor, in a fight at a North Carolina Walmart, that led to the shooting death of 19-year-old Jaylin Craig, in November 2018. But, DaBaby was convicted in June 2019, of carrying a concealed weapon. He only got 12 months of probation, and a suspended jail sentence.
DaBaby shot and killed Craig, after initially getting into a fight with one of Craig’s friends, Henry Douglas. Now, DaBaby’s lawyers actually believe this new video supports the Charlotte rapper’s claim of self-defense, according to TMZ. DaBaby initially claimed in 2018, that Craig and that other “accomplice” followed DaBaby in the Walmart, and threatened him with a gun.
However, Attorneys Drew Findling and Marrisa Goldberg say prosecutors reviewed the footage back in 2018, and reached the conclusion that DaBaby acted in self-defense. Also, the video was reviewed by a Mecklenburg County judge, in connection with DaBaby having a misdemeanor charge, for not having the proper permits for his gun.
“Witnesses were interviewed and corroborated Mr. Kirk’s statement,” said Findling to TMZ. The entirety of the surveillance video was viewed and determined to corroborate Mr. Kirk’s statement … Mr. Kirk was protecting himself and his family at the time of the shooting.”
DaBaby subliminally addressed the new video, on social media, on Sunday. He inserted the video of Tyrese’s “What do you want from me?” video meme.
“No disrespect to my boy Tyrese man😂 but what y’all niggas got goin on bruh?? #WhatMoreDoYouWANTfromMEEEEE ????Somebody behind the scenes on my ass ain’t it?”
