Damian Lillard wins the NBA’s Three Point Contest
Damian Lillard is one of the hardest working players in the NBA. Heroically, Dame led the Portland Trail Blazers to the Western Conference Finals, in 2019. Through his career, Dame has had big moments. However, he has often played the foil to Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors. Tonight, Lillard was the star. His comeback run continued, as he shined in the Three Point Contest. In fact, Dame is the contest winner.
Damian Lillard overcame what would have destroyed most players. In actuality, his will to win is the only reason the Portland Trail Blazers are relevant. Lillard put the Blazers back on the map in 2013, returning the team to playoff contention. From 2013 until 2021, Lillard led Portland to the postseason every year. He and CJ McCollum formed a backcourt duo that was only bested by Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Often, those guys ended their playoff run.
Damian Lillard dealt with injuries in 2022, which led to the Blazers missing the playoffs. Midseason, the organization traded CJ McCollum to the New Orleans Pelicans. While the Blazers are supposed to be rebuilding, Dame has them in the playoff conversation. Some say the Blazers should trade him to a contender, but he’s committed to restoring the Blazers to prominence. Tonight, Dame put himself back on the map, as he won the Three Point Contest.
