Damion Lee hits game winner for Suns to beat Mavericks
Damion Lee is one of the best role players in the NBA. After going undrafted, Lee joined the NBA in 2016. During his first two years, Damion Lee split his time between the NBA and the G League. However, in 2018, Lee found himself on the Golden State Warriors roster. The next two years saw him split time between the Warriors and their G League team. In 2020, Damion Lee ended up receiving a lot of playing time, and he signed a multi year contract with the Warriors.
Damion Lee would also marry Sydel Curry, the younger sister of Stephen Curry, during this time. Not only was Lee the teammate of Steph, but he is also his brother-in-law. Needless to say, there was a lot of chemistry built between the two players. During the 2021-22 season, this chemistry led to the Warriors getting off to a 29-8 start to the season. While the Warriors faltered, they still managed to make the playoffs, and win the championship.
Damion Lee signed with the Phoenix Suns, during the 2022 offseason. Last season, the Suns were the NBA’s best team throughout the regular season. In the playoffs, the Suns dealt with an injury to Devin Booker, which caused the New Orleans Pelicans to give them a competitive series. After that, the Suns’ domination of the Mavericks ended, causing them to upset them in Game 7. Last night, the Mavericks were favored to beat the Suns in their home opener. However, Damion Lee put an end to that with his late game heroics.
