Danielle Brooks credits Taraji for The Color Purple set being straight
Danielle Brooks is the breakout star of The Color Purple, in its musical adaption. There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the film. None of it has to do with the actual movie. First, Taraji P. Henson broke down crying over the pay Black actresses receive. After that, there were rumors of her and Oprah having tension. However, they defused those rumors. But, Danielle Brooks revealed Taraji P. Henson made sure they had dressing rooms and food, on set, after Oprah called her.
Danielle Brooks originally rose to fame on “Orange Is The New Black.” She played on the breakout hit series for six seasons. As a result, her character became a household name. In addition, she made cameo appearances on several other shows. However, Brooks joining The Color Purple play was the first time she stepped out of the OITNB shadow. She has now established herself as a star, outside of that show, via this new film.
Danielle Brooks spoke, with The Color Purple cast, with The Hollywood Reporter. The whole cast sat down in front of a live audience for this interview. While they were handling this forum, Danielle Brooks spoke directly to Taraji P. Henson. Brooks discussed how the actresses were being treated, behind the scenes. She said that Oprah made one call to Henson. Once Taraji was called, she made sure the ladies had dressing rooms and food on the set. So, she gave Henson her flowers.
