Day 2 of Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival Gets Canceled, After Eight People Reportedly Died, on Opening Night, Due to Injuries

Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival finally returned on Friday night, to his hometown of Houston. This was held at NRG Park, but things took a turn for the worst, that night. According to reports, eight people died, and many others were injured. This was as a result of many people suffering injuries from being trampled, as fans tried to rush towards the performances, on stage.

50,000 people attended day 1 of Astroworld Festival in total, as 23 people also ended up being transported to local hospitals. 11 of these people were being transported, due to cardiac arrest, per KHOU 11. 300 people were said to have been treated at the festival as well. A 10-year-old was also injured in these chaotic scenes, as well.

NRG Park went on to state on their social media feeds that day 2 of Astroworld Festival has been canceled. That came as fans called for the first not to end, following the series of injuries that were occurring. The opening night consisted of performances from Travis, SZA. Drake, Roddy Ricch, and more.

Astroworld Fest was initially announced back in May. At the time, the lineup wasn’t out, but tickets sold out quickly. This was the first Astroworld Fest since 2019, as 2020 was forced to be postponed, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The same day, Travis also released two new singles, in “Mafia” and “Escape Plan.” These are expecting to appear on his upcoming fifth studio album, “Utopia.”
