Despite what detractors say, Jay-Z obviously did something right, as he remained the biggest rapper in the game for the better part of a decade. One of the reasons Jay-Z managed to stay on top was because of the people around him. At one point, 9th Wonder was among the people behind him.
Going into 2003, Jay-Z decided to call it quits. With seven chart-topping albums under his belt, Jay-Z decided to wrap it up at seven. Though overlooked by Jay-Z’s other classics, such as The Blueprint, Reasonable Doubt, and American Gangster, The Black Album is also considered a classic. Some even say the album was his best.
9th Wonder provided production on the album, doing “Threat.” In the time since then, Jay-Z has branched out into several other businesses. Among them is his Life + Times website, which houses the “DECODED” series. Recently, 9th Wonder talked to “DECODED” and broke down his track, “Threat,” on The Black Album.
