They asked for the 1990s and it sounds as if the 1990s have returned. Earlier this year, A$AP Rocky boldly proclaimed he was bringing 1993 back. Without any major announcements, Joey Bada$$ has brought the 1990s back. Looking at the hairstyles of such names as Fabolous and Kendrick Lamar, plus their attire, hip hop is nostalgic.

It does not get more 1990s than Camp Lo. Back in 1997, they delivered their single, “Luchini,” which is what most known them for. But, during their run, Camp Lo was no “one hit wonder.” Instead, Camp Lo had several songs out, including “Coolie High,” taken from the Great White Hype soundtrack that started it all.

Taking things back to the mid-1990s, Camp Lo revisited “Coolie High” for Jay-Z’s lifestyle website, Life + Times. Sitting down for their “DECODED” series, Camp Lo’s duo broke down the lyrics of their song. Sixteen years have passed since Camp Lo released their debut album, Uptown Saturday Night.
