Former NBA player Delonte West was arrested in Fairfax County, Virginia. His appearance in the recent mugshot has shocked many fans. The 40-year-old was taken into custody in the 7200 block of Fairchild Drive in Groveton. He was charged with resisting arrest after being served a warrant for violating conditions of his release.

West was a standout at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Maryland, before his successful college career at St. Joseph’s University. He later played for several NBA teams. His professional career included stints with the Boston Celtics, Seattle SuperSonics, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Dallas Mavericks. Also, he had periods playing overseas.

However, since his basketball days, West’s life has been marked by a series of legal issues. In addition, he’s had public struggles with mental health and substance abuse. His latest arrest adds to a troubling history that includes a 2020 incident. In 2020 he was filmed being assaulted on a D.C. street and subsequent check-ins at rehab centers. Despite seeking help, West faced further issues. This includes a 2021 arrest for being drunk in public in Florida. Also, another in 2022 for vehicle trespassing, fleeing law enforcement, and public intoxication.

In the latest mugshot, West appears significantly different from his days on the court, a stark reminder of his ongoing struggles. The arrest has once again brought attention to the challenges faced by athletes after their professional careers end, highlighting the importance of continued support and rehabilitation.
