Dennis Schröder runs up on Dirk Nowitzki and scares him

Dennis Schröder began his NBA career with the Atlanta Hawks, in 2013. A native of Germany, one of his inspirations for playing professional basketball was Dirk Nowitzki. After all, Dirk was the first German native to become a major star in the league. For twenty one years, Dirk played for the Dallas Mavericks, leading them to their lone championship in 2011. Since his retirement, Dirk has been an exec for the Mavs. He was scouting Team Germany and Schröder saw him, so he jumped on his back, scaring Dirk.

Dennis Schröder cites guys like Dirk Nowitzki as his inspiration. Dirk Nowitzki did so much for the game, just as a player. But when it comes to what he did as far as being an international talent, it’s hard to put into words. It wasn’t just the gamble that Mark Cuban made on bringing him to Dallas. Also, it was the effort that Dirk put in to make it work. When Nowitzki arrived in Dallas, the Mavericks were consistently one of the NBA’s worst teams. This was changed when Dirk showed up.

Dennis Schröder grew up watching Dirk Nowitzki and was blessed to play against him. In 2019, Dirk retired and he’s since been working within the Mavericks’ organization. With this currently being the offseason, Dirk was scouting Team Germany. After one of the games, Dennis Schröder excitedly ran up behind Dirk. When he jumped and grabbed Dirk’s back, he startled him, which led to Dirk nearly running away.
