DJ Akademiks faces lawsuit for alleged rape and assault
DJ Akademiks, whose real name is Livingston Allen, is facing a new lawsuit filed by Fauziya “Ziya” Abashe. The lawsuit accuses Allen of rape, sexual assault, and defamation. Abashe, who dated Allen after meeting him online in 2021, alleges that the incidents occurred on July 16, 2022. When Allen invited her to his New Jersey home, she claims the alleged incident took place.
Upon arrival, Abashe claims she was confronted by two men, identified as John Doe 1 and John Doe 2, who allegedly drugged her drink and assaulted her on Allen’s pool deck. The drugs reportedly impacted her memory, causing her to lose consciousness. She states that she later woke up to Allen brutally assaulting her.
The following day, Abashe confronted Allen, who allegedly showed her surveillance footage of the assault and two condom wrappers, suggesting further attacks by the John Does. Text messages included in the lawsuit indicate Allen told Abashe to “get tested,” implying unprotected sexual intercourse.
Abashe sought legal advice and underwent a rape kit examination, which she claims found traces of Allen’s sperm. She reported the incident to the police, who obtained a warrant for the surveillance footage. Abashe alleges Allen tried to destroy evidence by disposing of items.
Despite initially choosing not to press charges, Abashe decided to file the lawsuit after the allegations surfaced on social media. Allen denied the allegations in a video, claiming he was asleep during the assault and accusing Abashe of consenting to an orgy with his friends. The lawsuit argues these statements were false and defamatory.
Abashe’s lawyer, Tyrone Blackburn, stated they attempted to resolve the case privately but were left with no choice but to litigate. Abashe expressed confidence in achieving justice and preventing future incidents.
