Initially known as Fat Joe’s DJ, DJ Khaled broke out in the summer of 2007 with his popular single, “We Takin’ Over.” On the single, DJ Khaled featured T.I., Akon, Rick Ross, Fat Joe, Birdman, and Lil Wayne. This single launched DJ Khaled and made him a national artist.

Showcasing his ability to bring artists together, DJ Khaled soon was recruited by Def Jam to revive their Def Jam South brand. In bringing DJ Khaled to Def Jam, they also granted him a vanity label, We The Best Music Group. Ace Hood was the first artist signed and since then, We The Best Music Group has relocated to Cash Money Records.

Early this year, DJ Khaled announced the signing of Vado to the label. Since the deal with the Harlem rapper went well, DJ Khaled has added more of New York to the label. Hot 97’s DJ, DJ Bobby Trends, was announced as the latest person to be signed to the growing roster of We The Best Music Group.
