It takes a special kind of person to do what Sway Calloway does. If hip hop has any voice and a bridge into the mainstream, it starts and ends with Sway. But, the line walked by Sway is a thin one and is very tight. Sway has managed and is a favorite with the fans and the rappers.
Rappers feel comfortable with Sway Calloway, which is why they all flock to his shows for interviews. MTV knew what they had on their hands when he presented them with the “RapFix Live” concept. Shade 45 added him to their team for a reason, also, as he brings in that audience.
The downside to sharing such a strong relationship with rappers came a month ago when Kanye West dissed Sway. Instead of turning it into a situation, Sway used his show to laugh it off. With Big K.R.I.T. and Snoop Dogg on stage at “RapFix Live,” Sway and Hot 97’s DJ Enuff discussed this in-depth.
