DJ Khaled continues to make major moves in the industry, as he has now joined Def Jam, according to Variety. This comes as a result of leaving Sony Music and Epic Records.

In this deal with Def Jam, it’s also a joint venture with Universal Music Group. As a result, Khaled was also named a Global Creative Consultant for UMG. Khaled initially announced this news during a press conference on Thursday, in his hometown of Miami.

“[UMG chairman and CEO Lucian Grainge] and I, we always talked about me coming back home,” said Khaled to Variety. “So I felt like it was it was written for me to come back where I’m at in my career as an artist, an executive and as a producer, I felt like this is beautiful. I could have went anywhere in the Universal system and I chose Def Jam because of Tunji and LaTrice.”

This comes after Khaled delivered a legendary Grammys performance last weekend, with Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Fridayy, and John Legend, for their “God Did” collaboration. This record initially appeared on Khaled’s 13th studio album “God Did,” last summer. That went on to become another number one project for Khaled.
