Slowly, Epic Records is building up a very strong roster and they have been doing this for the past five years. Already, the label boasts Future and his Freebandz roster. To start 2016, Rick Ross announced he signed with Epic and MMG is likely not too far behind.
DJ Khaled started We The Best Music Group with Def Jam, as they granted it to him as a vanity label. His first act was signing Ace Hood, followed by Mavado. The label soon moved to Cash Money Records, but left in 2014, following the Young Money drama.
There hasn’t been much label talk from DJ Khaled, but he has helped bring notoriety to Snapchat with his major key alerts. Recently, he announced he brought Jay Z on as his manager. Now, he has signed with Epic Records and Major Key is his new album, with a single featuring Future and Jay Z as his first offering.
