DJ Khaled’s Summer 2020 Smash Hit Single With Drake, “Popstar,” Officially Goes Platinum
In late July, DJ Khaled released two new singles with Drake titled “Popstar” and “Greece.” In August, Popstar reached gold status and in early September, Greece did as well. Now, with Popstar continuing to build even more momentum, another plaque is here.
According to Chart Data, Popstar has been certified platinum by the RIAA in the US. This is after selling 1 million units in the US. Currently, Popstar stands at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The music video for Popstar has also been picking up steam as it was released a month ago and has accumulated over 73 million views. Justin Bieber starred in these visuals as Drake could not make the video shoot. Bieber shot Popstar from his home as fans believed that he made up for Drake’s absence.
At the time of Popstar and Greece’s release, Khaled also announced that his third studio album, ‘Khaled Khaled,’ is also on the way. No release date has been schedule as of now yet, though. His previous album was ‘Father of Asahd‘ in May 2019, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and was led by singles such as “Just Us” featuring SZA and “Top Off” featuring Jay Z, BeyoncĂ©, and Future. Fans are also waiting on Drake’s upcoming ‘Certified Lover Boy‘ album after he made the announcement of the title following the release of his “Laugh Now Cry Later” single with Lil Durk last month.
