Hip hop royalty, nothing less when using phrases to describe DJ Premier, as he is one of the men responsible for hip hop going as far as it has. As the genre has changed, it never outpaced DJ Premier. Each change hip hop goes through will always see some artist with a DJ Premier beat.
DJ Premier is timeless and he is hip hop, so everyone involved in the current landscape of hip hop pays homage to him. On the underground in Chicago, Vakill has released music for over twenty years and built a cult following. Vakill actually predates a lot of the “veterans” on the Chicago scene.
Recently, DJ Premier and Vakill ran into each other, which was a good moment for hip hop within itself. This is the day and age of smartphones and digital cameras, so the moment was definitely publicized. Once the photos hit the internet, rumors began about a DJ Premier/Vakill collaboration.
