One of the biggest hip hop stories of 2012 was the brewing beef between Common and Drake, as the two exchanged subliminal shots. During the fall of 2011, Common released his long-awaited album, The Dreamer, The Believer. The second single from the album, “Sweet,” was considered by many as a diss toward Drake.

When asked if he was dissing Drake, Common said the song was a hip hop song and if Drake is offended, he is “Sweet.” Initially, Drake played the song off, saying he and Common have no personal relationship. However, after being repeatedly asked, Drake went on a rant during a late December performance.

The feud reached new heights when Drake mentioned Common on Rick Ross’ “Stay Schemin’,” alongside French Montana. Upon hearing the song, Common added a verse to it, calling Drake out by name. Everyone has given their opinion on the feud, even though it has died down. DMC, of the famous Run-DMC, discussed the feud during an interview with Vlad TV.
