Six years have passed since DMX released his last album. Leaving his longtime label home of Def Jam, DMX signed a new deal with Columbia Records. At the time, it seeemed as if X had found a new label home and would be releasing albums the way he did earlier in his career. Instead, DMX found himself forced back into retirement, following a three-year hiatus.
Barely a year after the release of his comeback album, Year of the Dog… Again, DMX revealed he was working on a new album. The album was originally supposed to be released before the end of 2007. However, DMX soon pushed the album back to 2008, a year where he experienced much legal trouble. Sentenced to prison in 2009, DMX was forced out of the public eye for two years.
Last summer, DMX returned and he announced his renewed focus on making music and getting his life in order. DMX has been making strides and has been making appearances on VH1’s “Couple’s Therapy,” meanwhile he has been recording his new album. Earlier this year, DMX revealed the title of the album was Undisputed and said it was inspired by The Notorious B.I.G. With new music set to be released from the new album, DMX has announced the release date for his album, June 26.
