Two weeks ago, DMX tragically passed away after being on life support for a week. This is after suffering a heart attack that left the function of his brain without the ability to improve at all. Therefore, X’s family made the difficult decision to take him off life support.
The idea was floated around by Yonkers, NY mayor, Mike Spano, of having X’s funeral at the Yonkers Raceway. Yonkers is X’s hometown so it definitely made sense. Now, an official location is set.
According to TMZ, X’s funeral will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. This was confirmed by his manager, Steve Rifkind. The layout regarding capacity and ticketing is still being worked on at the moment. In addition to this service, a private memorial will be held for X’s loved ones on April 25 somewhere in NYC.
Tributes have also been pouring in in White Plains. This was the city in New York where X was hospitalized. Fans have left notes, stuffed animals, balloons, and more.
