Doja Cat is Being “More Careful” About Who She Collaborates With – “People are Just Getting on Each Other’s Songs For the Sake of Having Them on Each Other’s Songs” [VIDEO]

Doja Cat is fresh off of hosting the 2021 VMAs in Brooklyn, last weekend. She also won two awards, for Best Collaboration and Best Art Direction. This was for her smash hit single, “Kiss Me More,” ft. SZA.

Doja also recently spoke with Rachel Lindsay, of Extra, to discuss the collaborations that she does. At this point, the pop star/rapper is being more selective about who she features on her songs, as evident with her third studio album, “Planet Her.” Doja believes that people make collabs happen now, just to have features.

“I have been trying to be more careful about who I’m collaborating with,” Doja explained. “Not to say that the people on my album are—they’re incredible. They are the perfect features only album, but I do want to be more choosy about what I’m doing because I feel like a lot of features are coming out and it feels like people are just getting on each other’s songs for the sake of having them on each other’s songs.I want to be really careful about that. Sometimes it’s too much collabs and remixes and things like that.”

On Planet Her, Doja had The Weeknd, Ariana Grande, SZA, JID, and Young Thug. Eve, The Weeknd and Gunna also appeared on the deluxe edition. The album went on to debut at number two, on the Billboard 200 chart, and spend three consecutive weeks there.
