Doja Cat’s sets Spotify record for female hip-hop album debut
On Friday, Doja Cat released her highly anticipated fourth studio album, “Scarlet.” This project was led by singles such as “Attention,” “Demons,” and the Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping “Paint The Town Red.” Doja delivered 17 songs in total, and handled Scarlet with no features. Prior to Scarlet being released, Doja previously noted how she wanted to tap into more rap records on this project, as opposed to mostly pop records.
Meanwhile, Doja’s Scarlet album is already breaking streaming records. According to Chart Data, it has broken the record for the biggest debut for a female hip-hop album in Spotify history. Furthermore, Scarlet is also Doja’s first album since summer 2021’s “Planet Her,” which saw a number two debut on the Billboard 200 chart.
Moreover, Doja is also venturing on her Scarlet Tour, next month. The tour will kick off on October 31, in San Francisco. It will run until December 13, where it concludes in Chicago. Fans will also be able to see Doechii and Ice Spice perform as special guests throughout the tour. Fans seeing Doja tour has been a long time coming, as her 2020 Hot Pink Tour was canceled, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, in 2019, she did venture on her Amala Tour.
