Dr. Dre projected to sell between 250,000 and 275,000 copies of #Compton in first week

Dr. Dre 10By Matthew Bridge

It takes a lot to make Dr. Dre come out of his shell, in fact it’s been close to two decades since he was a regular on the scene. The Compton producer/emcee last released an album in 1999. Since then, he has only made sporadic appearances.

Dr. Dre was at the center of the deal Apple made to acquire Beats in 2014 and it made Dre close to a billionaire. On the heels of Jay Z launching his streaming venture, TIDAL, Apple put Dr. Dre at the forefront for Apple Music. This is where he hosts his radio show and dropped his album.

The first Dr. Dre album in sixteen years, Compton features appearances from both Game and King Mez, among others. Apple has Dr. Dre back at the forefront of the game, but the numbers are not where many felt they would or should be. In its first week, Dr. Dre is projected to sell between 250 and 275,000 copies of Compton.
