Dr. Dre receives star on Hollywood walk of fame
One of the greatest achievements any entertainer can receive is their name on the legendary Hollywood Boulevard. This was the case for the iconic Dr. Dre, who received his Hollywood star this week. Surrounded by fellow artist and close friends like 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg and Eminem, Dr. Dre is seen smiling from ear to ear. The ceremony was captured via ABC 7 news, with Big Boy opening the ceremony detailing the honoree’s career.
When it comes to authentically classic music, Dr. Dre is a name that easily tops that category. Starting with his days of N.W.A, he helped redefine the sound of West Coast hip-hop. Although N.W.A was a worldwide success, Dr. Dre’s debut 1992 album The Chronic propelled him as one of the greatest producers ever. Co-founding Death Row Records, he helped create the sound of legends like Snoop Dogg, Warren G and Scott Storch. Further adding to his producer credits, he created his Aftermath Entertainment label. This label birthed the careers of Eminem, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar, The Game and Silk Sonic.
In addition to his incredible musical contribution, Dr. Dre is the first hip-hop billionaire. In 2014, he sold his company Beats Electronics to Apple for 3.4 billion. During his ceremony, Snoop Dogg also gave a heartfelt speech, highlighting his lifelong friendship with Dr. Dre. From creating timeless sounds, to making long lasting business ventures, Dr. Dre is worthy of his Hollywood star.
