Initially pegged as the future of the rap game, Drake has run into much criticism about the same style that gained him acclaim. Rare it is when an artist can rap and sing, doing both well. In the eyes of many, Drake could be a complete singer or rapper and rise to become the best.
However, there are many critics who simply consider the Toronto emcee to be “soft” and “sensitive.” When Drake attempts to “manĀ up,” like on “Stay Schemin’,” he is then criticized for trying to be something he is not. Over the past year, Drake has learned it is impossible to please everyone.
Despite the negative feedback, Drake remains one of the highest-selling rappers in the game and still has the backing of the most-popular record label in the game, Cash Money Records. Regardless of Pusha T or Common’s disses, Drake can always fall back on being a part of the biggest crew in the game. Recently, he spoke with Sway Calloway of MTV News about this and more.
