Much credit goes to Drake for his contributions, all across the board. At the time of his rise, no actors had successfully transitioned into music, but Drake paved the way for Childish Gambino. As hot as Lil Wayne was, no one took Young Money seriously, until Drake signed.

Drake also helped the Toronto hip hop scene become taken seriously, as he replaced Kardinal Offishall as the city’s biggest name. Heck, since he’s been marketing the Toronto Raptors, they went from being a joke to title contenders. That Drake stimulus plan is still vital.

Last night, the Raptors hosted the Houston Rockets, giving fans their awaited DeMar DeRozan/James Harden matchup. After a close loss, early in the season, DeRozan and Lowry led Toronto to a win. During halftime, Drake addressed the crowd, announcing he’s got his new album coming, later this year.
