A lot is said about Jay-Z’s run from 1996 through 2003, where he had a hit record, roughly every year in that span of time. Along with that, Jay had a new album. Since 2009, Drake has held a similar hold on the game, but albums aren’t as important as they were in Hov’s time.
Whether he was the lead artist, or had a feature, Drake has had a hit single every summer, since 2009. However, Drake has had nothing in 2017 and the summer’s almost over. Just like last year, DJ Khaled won the summer, as Future, Kendrick, and French also had hits.
Drake sat back and watched Migos, Playboi Carti, Kodak Black, and YFN Lucci come into their own. But, it looks like the year of 2017 will not end without a new album. Turns out, Drake was working on an album all year, and now he’s come to announce it, which he did at OVO Fest.
